If you read my newsletter last month, you know my husband and I were planning a move to Mexico that didn’t work out. But I refused to give up having an adventure, so instead…wait for it… we bought a cute little bungalow near Grosse Pointe Woods that needs a TON of work. I’m talking all new mechanicals, roof, kitchen down to the studs, adding a second-floor bathroom, etc. Basically, no corner will be untouched.
I’m sharing this because I know it will be a lot like starting a business. It’s exciting and anything seems possible in the beginning. But then reality hits and you realize it will take lots of time, significant hard work, and buckets full of patience. Not to mention navigating setbacks and disappointments. If only it could be like those home makeover shows, where the house is transformed in what seems like a few weeks to a masterpiece of design.
Having a vision and creating something from scratch, whether it’s transforming a house or growing a business is not for wimps. It takes guts, unrelenting focus and energy to follow through. But, when you’ve reached the goal and look back, there’s nothing more satisfying.
