2020 = STRESS!
How was your vacation this year? What? You didn’t take one? Not even a few days away from the office?
If that’s true – we need to talk.
Let’s face it, 2020 has been a doozy of a year (and not in a good way!) Everything we’ve experienced; a deadly pandemic, social unrest, and economic instability has taken a toll on us and made for some very worrying times. Even before this year, 80% of workers felt pressure on the job according to The American Institute of Stress, a non-profit organization that serves as a clearinghouse for information on all stress related subjects.
And, if 80% felt anxiety BEFORE, it’s probably safe to say that it’s having an even bigger impact on you and your business today. Now, if you’re thinking, “I’m not stressed,” you might be fooling yourself. Data shows that driven, ambitious leaders often don’t realize the signs of tension and frequently put their health a firm second to company priorities.
What’s needed to ensure you play at the top of your game and avoid poor health? Self-care – and it’s not that hard. Take time to decompress for at least 48 hours. If you can get away – do it. If you’re more comfortable at home, turn off your cell phone and the news and enjoy a hobby or great book. Reconnect and laugh with people you love. Basically, be on the safe side and assume you need it before the terrible repercussions of long-term stress start to show. You and your business will definitely reap the reward.
